Celebrate the life and work of Carl Sandburg (1878-1967) at Connemara, the “baronial estate” where the Pulitzer-Prize winning poet lived with his family for twenty-two years. Take a guided tour of the main house, left much as it was during the Sandburgs’ residency; enjoy the Connemara Farms’ goat-herd, "represent[ing] the three breeds of goats Mrs. Sandburg raised;" and walk the many trails of the beautiful 264-acre farm. The historic site, dedicated in 1968 “to honor Carl Sandburg’s compelling collection of stories about the American people,” is open everyday, except Christmas, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For additional information, including a schedule of events, visit Connemara’s website.
